TYPOGRAPHY: Dinner Party Invites
Imaginary Dinner
These invitations were designed for 6 guests of my choice, dead or alive. I chose people that have and continue to inspire me. Whether it be from figuring out if something is sparking joy in my life to being brave enough to cuddle a crocodile.
The design consisted of a napkin fold envelope that opened to reveal a content card that was specially designed for each guest. The patterns on the napkin fold and content cards were created with the chosen typefaces I thought best suited each guest. A typeface that had their personality or a feel of it. Once you remove the content card, you reveal a typographic illustration on the napkin fold. The illustrations were carefully considered and contain elements of storytelling for each person. From patterns of their best-selling book to visuals that represent their life or life’s work. The content on the card was organised in a way that also reflected each person. For example. Steve Irwin, otherwise known as the crocodile guy, has his body text forming the reptile’s silhouette. This is also mirrored in the illustration with the reptile’s mouth opening in a pre-snap position.
