My project objective was to redesign the novel “Invisible Cities” by Italo Calvino with only using type. After reading the book I noticed that all the chapters described each city in depth. I created expressive typography displaying the name of each city and manipulated it to match a scene from each page. I used a combination of Cromatico translucent paper and Accent Fresco, which has a similar surface to the great Italian mural paintings, to provide a luxurious and intriguing design. With one of the main characters in the book being Marco Polo who was a Venetian, this creates another link.
