In my dissertation I researched how magazines have survived in the digital era. I learned that the internet and social media have been big threats to magazines and something that publishers thought would damage their industry. Although some magazines did struggle to cope with the transition into a digital age, many have grown to become more successful than ever before. The ‘end of print’ fears proved to be a wake up call that forced designers, writers, editors to innovate and develop their magazines to remain relevant and keep their customers excited.
